Any VCRs that can perfectly play back hi fi recordings on another machine?

Have you tried adjusting the tracking on the vcr your using? That would be the first thing to check. It probably has auto tracking but that may not be doing the job so try adjusting it yourself. How exactly depends on the vcr so you may have to find the manual online (go to the manufacturers website and check through support. Usually no need to buy the manual). It could be that the tapes have just degraded over time and there's nothing you can do about that (unless you have a recording studio in your basement). I don't think getting the same model will help.
