Why do so many people feel as if they have to send pics and tell their whole life story on the net?

I am so against "tell it all" and all, isn't there a way to communicate without the world knowing our every step and life's ongoing or some like that. they even know what we wear each day..hummm comments from old maniacs and child molesters aren't recognized. wow what about our kids?
